I’ve always been on the hunt for books that have any sort of Asian rep in them (since I’m Filipino-Iranian if you didn’t know 😉 ) and aiming to read more diverse books in general. When I came across the Year of the Asian challenge, I absolutely could not wait to join! I’m a bit late to the party, but it’s better late than never right? I will be updating my progress as the year goes on and my reading progresses so I can not only keep myself accountable, but also to recommend some diverse Asian rep reads for you guys!
So what is this challenge exactly? Well first off, it’s hosted by CW from The Quiet Pond, Lily from Sprinkles of Dreams, Shealea from Shut Up, Shealea, and Vicky from Vicky Who Reads! The purpose behind this challenge is to read as many books by Asian authors as possible. As long as they were read anytime in 2019, they count towards your overall goal! And these books can include backlists, new releases, and ARCs so no book will be turned away! If you want to keep up with everyone’s progress and look for more inspiration as to what books to read, the official hashtag is #YARC2019! I highly encourage you guys to participate in super fun challenge (sign up here).
My goal for this year is to read 1-10 books, which is represented by the adorable Philippine tarsier!! I know this goal isn’t very ambitious but it’s a great starting point! And I can always update my goal to a larger one if I surpass it 😉 If you’d like to follow along with my progress, I will be updating the section below with all of the books I have read for this challenge throughout the entire year! I will also have a Goodreads shelf dedicated to it as well here.
